Goran Bregovic & the Weddings and Funerals Orchestra (Live Band, Serbia, Bosnia, Bulgaria)
Goran Bregovic was born in Sarajevo on the 22nd of March 1950 and is one of the most internationally known modern composers of the Balkans. He started playing Violin and Guitar when he was a child. In 1971 Goran started his first band: “Bijelo Dugme” (white button) together with Zoran Redzic. He was the band’s composer and wrote most of the lyrics.
In 1976 he released his first solo album.
At the time “Bijelo Dugme” was falling apart and Goran entered the world of film music. He made soundtracks for movies like “Time of the Gypsies” (1989), “Arizona Dream” (1993) and “Underground” (1995).
Since 1998, Bregovic has been performing his music mainly in the form of concert all over the world with his Weddings and Funerals Orchestra.
In 2008 he released the new album “Alcohol” which, the 27th of May, will be presented for the first time in Belgium.
Goran Bregovic becomes 60 this year. Another good reason to come and celebrate this at the Vooruit in Gent.

Mala Vita is a band from Holland, who brings us a show of danceable polkapunk, crushing ska and pounding reggae. The roots of front man Mickael lay in Italy. The other band members, from Bosnia, Serbia and the Netherlands, complete the international personality of the band.
The songs of the band are full of themes like pain, injustice, war and betrayal but also hope and love.
In the spring of 2007 the band released their first studio album, “Disorganizzata”, which was produced by Gambeat, bassplayer of Manu Chao.
The highlights of their previous shows: Lowlands in Holland, Exit Festival in Sebria, Sziget Festival in Hungary, Folkfestival in Dranouter, Polé Polé at the Gentse feesten and Turn & Taxis in Brussels.
